Take the Metro Quest: Transit Supportive Corridors Study!

Transit Supportive Corridors Study

As part of its Comprehensive Plan, Rochester 2034, the City is studying which major streets have the best potential for “transit supportive development.

“Transit supportive development encourages a mix of complementary activities and destinations (e.g., housing, work, shopping, services, entertainment) along major streets and centers. Transit supportive development helps create compact, vibrant communities where it’s easier for people to walk, bike, and use public transit to get around. This study is being coordinated with Reimagine RTS. RTS makes transit service decisions and the City guides land use and development decisions. Our goal is to work with RTS and development partners to help make Rochester more transit-friendly. Demand for mixed-use development that supports walking, biking, and transit is growing nationwide. Communities as diverse as Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Atlanta, Charlotte, and Buffalo are investing in transit supportive development. Transit supportive development works best on heavily used streets like Main Street and Lake Avenue. You can provide input on which corridors you think this study should focus on in the “Prioritize” tab.”
